The finalists for the 2026 Structural Timber Awards have been announced, with projects, businesses and individuals from across the timber construction sector recognised across 18 categories.
The awards celebrate achievements in structural timber, spanning residential, commercial, education, healthcare and infrastructure projects, as well as recognising architects, engineers, contractors, installers, manufacturers and other supply chain professionals.
For the self-build sector, the Custom & Self-Build Project of the Year category is particularly relevant. It is open to individual and small-community self-build and custom-build projects where timber is fundamentally important to the structure, including timber frame, SIPS and mass timber systems. The category assesses projects for technical skill and the effective use of timber in areas including sustainability, low-carbon construction, energy efficiency and design.
The Private Housing Project of the Year category also includes self-build projects, alongside volume housebuilding and smaller developments. It recognises projects using timber solutions such as mass timber, closed and open-panel timber frame and SIPS, with the awards looking for examples of sustainable, energy-efficient and desirable homes.
The 2026 programme also includes a Low Energy Project of the Year category, alongside Social Housing, Education, Healthcare, Commercial/Infrastructure, Retail & Leisure and Project of the Year. Individual and business categories include Architect, Engineer, Client, Contractor, Installer, Manufacturer, Project or Construction Manager, Pioneer, Product/System Innovation and Supply Chain Partner of the Year.
The shortlist includes a strong showing from members of the Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP), with 13 members securing finalist places across 13 of the 18 categories. Among them, B&K Hybrid Solutions has five nominations, while Buckland Timber has nine nominations across five projects and Engenuiti has seven nominations across five projects.
The winners will be announced at the Structural Timber Awards ceremony on 7 October 2026 at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham. The ceremony will take place alongside the Structural Timber Conference, which brings together the sector to share research, case studies and developments in timber construction.
With timber continuing to feature across a broad range of residential and wider construction projects, the 2026 shortlist provides a snapshot of the approaches, systems and expertise currently being applied across the sector.
