Beechwood West

Swan Housing Association and Nu-Living, which is part of its group, is working on the regeneration of the Craylands Estate in Basildon, Essex, to create nearly 1,000 new dwellings, with several hundred customisable homes. Swan is working alongside the HCA, with architect Pollard Thomas Edwards designing the custom homes.

With 251 custom build homes, Beechwood West in Basildon, Essex has become the second-largest custom build site to gain planning permission. Development partners Swan Housing Association, Nu-Living (part of the Swan Group), Basildon Borough Council and the Homes and Communities Agency are bringing the site on, working with architect Pollard Thomas Edwards (PTE) which has created the custom build neighbourhood. This is part of a larger regeneration of the 1960s Craylands housing estate, which will see the creation of nearly 1,000 mixed-tenure new homes in total, which Outerspace did the masterplan for.

Cannock Mill Cohousing

Cannock Mill Cohousing has become the first cohousing project to be awarded funding from the Home Building Fund, with a £3.86 million loan.

 

A 23-home low-energy cohousing project in Cannock Mill, Colchester. The group, originally London-based settled on a site in Colchester due to its proximity to London, with designs for the scheme being drawn up by Anne Thorne, architect and member of the group. The site is over two acres, with a mill and mill house on site, and will be built to Pasivhaus eco standards.
