Somerleyton Road

Community housing group, Brixton Green, has received planning permission for its Somerleyton Road development. In conjunction with Lambeth Council and igloo Regeneration, the project will deliver over 300 new homes, as well as a purpose built theatre, cultural, creative and community facilities to Brixton, East London.

Lambeth Council approved the project and agreed to develop the site, in partnership with the community, after 5 years of lobbying. 40% of the homes will have genuine low cost rents and 50% of all the homes will be Affordable Homes, as defined by the government.

Station Hill

Linden Homes proposed Station Hill development on the edge of Chudleigh includes 12 self-build plots as part of the larger 230-home site. The self-build plots were allocated under the Teignbridge Rule, requiring large sites to have a minimum 5% self build plots.

Purley Rise

West Berkshire Council’s Housing Site Allocations Development Plan Document (HSA DPD) has been approved, which includes one hectare of land at Purley Rise for 35 homes, including an element of self build homes, accessed via the A329.

Pope Street, SE1

Acorn Property Group are bringing on six four-storey homes offering buyers the chance to work with architects from the outset to decide layouts and configurations, including garages and studio work spaces, as well as more conventional layout choices. Ranging from 1,358-1,690 sq ft the homes start from £1.35 million.

The Shade, Soham

Thrift CLT for Soham and CLT East’s sister company, Palace Green Homes, have united to create a 13-home community-led housing scheme at The Shade in Soham. The CLT will take ownership of 6 flats and 2 houses upon completion.

Planning permission was granted on 1st Feb 2017, and building work began in August 2017. The homes are expected to be complete for summer 2018.

Long Marston Airfield Garden Village

One of the government’s new garden communities, there is a provision for potential self and custom build on the site.

400 dwellings are expected to be built in the next five years, with the rest following after a new relief road is opened in c.2022. The self-build and custom build plots are expected to be available in this latter phase.

Sedgefield

A mixed use development east of Sedgefield Community College that included plans for 19 self-build plots, as part of a larger development of 138 homes, including a care home and community and youth facility, planned by ESRG Properties.

The application was turned down at outline application by Durham County Council on the grounds that it would harm the character and appearance of the countryside and setting of the village.

Lowfield Green, YorSpace

YorSpace is a community homes group in York working to bring on 19 community homes in Lowfield Green, York for community self build housing set around a common house and shared growing spaces.

The one acre site, part of an old school redevelopment, has been allocated for self build by the council, with around three quarters of the site potentially allocated to YorSpace for 19 homes, with six additional plots for self-build homes.

The council is due to make a decision shortly on the site with regards to planning.

Croftmead

A Border Oak development of seven serviced-plots for custom-build at Kingsland in Herefordshire. Border Oak undertook the landscaping and main drive, together with services to plot perimeter. The houses are a range of sizes, from three- to five-bed homes.
