I can report that Mark Tagg, our Finance Director, attended a kick-off meeting of the Innovate UK funded ‘Digitising Custom Build Project’ on the 21st April. This important project, which NaCSBA will play a leading role in delivering and disseminating, will help custom build to grow by providing new digital tools. More information will be provided in the near future on initial ideas for these tools, including events where members can get involved in specifying and piloting them.
Additionally, I am hosting a meeting of custom build developers and enablers on Monday the 18th of May to explore how NaCSBA could put forward alternative VAT and stamp duty structures to Government. Currently members have to use complex tax structures, incurring cost and slowing down developments. NaCSBA members will be working with tax specialist KPMG to work up simplified proposals that, if accepted by Government, would help custom build to grow.
