There was some encouraging support for custom/self build recently via a feature piece on the sector during BBC Radio 4’s consumer affairs programme ‘You & Yours’.
Included in the piece is one 25-year-old desperate to get on the property ladder by building his own house, but first you hear Conservative MP – and Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Self Build, Custom Build and Independent Housebuilding – Richard Bacon who discusses why the Europeans are so far ahead in custom/self building and references his ‘Self Build, Custom Build and Independent Housebuilding Bill’ which is currently going through Parliament.
