The Nationwide Foundation charity has launched its five proposals for a fairer housing system, outlining five recommendations for the new government with the collective potential to overhaul the current failing system.

Their five proposals are:

  1. Reimagine our housing system: agree a long-term vision to achieve Homes for All
  2. Increase the supply of genuinely affordable homes
  3. Transform the private rented sector to better protect tenants
  4. Support the growth of community-led housing to diversify the housing market and deliver more homes at prices people can afford, in places where they are needed and wanted.
  5. Place tackling health inequalities at the heart of housing policy

In the report, Kate Markey- Chief Executive says:

“With a new Government and Parliament in place in Westminster, new leadership in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and newly elected mayors in more regions of England, now is the time for long-term, concerted leadership and action. We believe through our recommendations, developed through decades of research and experience, change is possible.”
