Building designers, architects or architectural technicians wanting to get to grips with the finer points of designing homes to be constructed from timber frame or Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs) should join Kingspan on 18 September for a unique training opportunity.
Kingspan’s Building Designers and Architects Event on 18 September taps into the Self Build market, which NaCSBA expects to grow to meet the demand of the 40,000 people signed up on the Self Build registers. This expectation is reflected by the Structural Timber Association which has been tracking a market resurgence over the last few years.
Thanks to its qualities of sustainability and its speed of construction, timber frame offers a viable route of creating extra supply in the housing market, diversity in supply that will support Government’s target of 300,000 homes created annually by the mid 2020s. As its an offsite system, it also circumvents some of the issues surrounding on-site construction skills – something that will be made worse by Brexit as European labour decreases.
These training is curated for design professionals wanting to know more about prefabricated, bespoke, timber based construction kits using energy efficient external wall and building envelope systems. It takes place at the Kingspan/Potton Show Centre, where delegates can see built examples of SIPs and timber frame homes, and a factory tour is included.
