Work with the National Audit Office
Richard Bacon MP and NaCSBA Chair Michael Holmesrecently metwith Sir Amyas Morse, the Controllerand Auditor General of The National Audit Office- who’srole is to scrutinise public spending for parliament.Discussions were held onhow public spend on housing could be used more efficiently if the custom and self build sector were larger, as in so many other developed economies, and therefore the volume of new homes being built each year would be significantly higher, increasing supply and ultimately influencing house prices and rents.
The NAO is currently preparing a housing landscape report that reviewspublic spending on housing. They NAO willreport on housing supply and the challenges on capacity, and will include information on the custom and self buildsector. The report will be used toinfluence future public spending by the DCLG to support the custom and self buildsector.
