The Right to Build Task Force has a continuous rolling programme of Masterclasses, with a new session entitled Custom and Self Build Housing Legislative & Policy Update 2024 taking place on the 31 January, 12:30-2pm.

This new Masterclass will examine some of the changes that impact custom and self build housing brought about by the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023 (LURA) and the revised National Planning Policy Framework, introduced on the 20 December 2023.

The Masterclass is led by guest speaker James Corbet Burcher, Barrister at No.5 Chambers, who was also a keynote speaker at NaCSBA’s 2023 Conference (image).

James has a broad range of experience and expertise in housing, and has worked alongside Chris Young KC on a range of pivotal developments involving the delivery of custom and self-build housing.

As well as reviewing the current context for the planning system, this session will look ahead to changes expected in 2024. The Masterclass will also review some of the areas where LPAs need to improve data collection in regards to self build registers and how to approach schemes in accordance with the intention of the statutory duties.

NaCSBA members can secure a 50% discount on tickets, contact Duncan on media@nacsba.org.uk for your code.
