Following a sell out first session, the Right to Build Task Force is repeating its insightful review of significant self and custom build planning appeals.

Led by local authority planner Arron Beecham and planning consultant Mary Elkington – both Task Force experts, the Custom and Self Build Planning Appeals Masterclass promotes understanding of planning inspectors’ thinking and the impact of their rulings on future activity.

Aimed at local authority planners, this masterclass is also ideal for land promoters and custom build developers and enablers working to bring forward sites locally.

The masterclass examines recent significant planning appeals for custom and self build sites, sharing the issues, decisions and precedents, and the impact these will have for future applications.

A common theme in many of the applications are the local authority registers of people wishing to build, and the demand these registers reflect. They frequently draw on the reference in national guidance, which recommends using secondary sources of demand be considered, and the weight given to these elements.

Please note, this is a repeat of the previous masterclass, and is not suitable for those that have already attended.
