In addition to its Graven Hill study visits, the Right to Build Task Force runs a series of popular online masterclasses, with the next in the agenda being Custom and Self Build Planning Appeals.

Typically, the Task Force pitches its training at local authority housing and planning officials, but this masterclass will be relevant to a far wider audience of land promoters, enablers and developers.

Previous masterclasses have been oversubscribed, and the Task Force expects this session to be extremely popular as it will offer insight into a range of planning appeals, and the details of the inspectors’ rulings.

With the legislation and registers firmly in place, the policies and practice of local authorities frequently come up in the appeals, and the decisions, issues and precedents they set all have an impact on future planning applications, as the appeals frame future activity.

Key to many is the weight inspector’s place on custom and self build, and how this works with wider considerations for them to make their decision. A more detailed agenda will be shared closer to the event.

This masterclass costs £80 (incl VAT) for non local authority planners, with tickets available from Eventbrite.
