Grand Designs: The Streets is back for its third series, starting at 9pm on Tuesday 16 May on Channel 4. Hosted by Kevin McCloud and Natasha Huq, the series follows the experiences of individuals taking on projects on mult-plot sites.
While series one focused on Graven Hill, last year’s show and this one look at a wider range of sites. Series three picks up on projects at Graven Hill and Glasgow Council’s pilot self build scheme at Mary Hill, and also visits a new self and custom build site in York.
NaCSBA encourages anyone working in the sector to tune in as the programme helps normalise mult-plot provision, especially as many of the homes featured are actually self builds on serviced plot sites, rather than pure custom build where one or more developers are connected with the site to build out the houses.
Sharing examples of multi-plot sites is an important step in normalising this approach, as very few people are aware that this is an option for creating an owner commissioned home.
