With the Right to Build now in full force, NaCSBAs Right to Build Expo – taking place at The Building Centre, London on 8th December 2016 – will discuss and explore what the new legislation means for the future of self and custom build in the UK.

The free to attend event will offer insight for the industry and for councils as they prepare to meet the demand for serviced plots within the next three years. Confirmed speakers for the day include Richard Bacon MP, chair of APPG for Self Build Custom and Community Housebuilding and Placemaking; Jacqueline Tellinga, project leader for the City of Almere, Netherlands; Karen Curtin, commercial director of Cherwell Council and Graven Hill Development Company board member; Louise Wyman, head of Garden Villages, Towns and Cities, HCA; and Kirk Howe, Adele Lewis-Ward and Tim Sullivan, from the HCA Home Building Fund team.

The event is split into two parts:Persuading the buying public to custom and self buildandDelivering custom and self build serviced plots at pace;there will also be a lunchtime workshop led by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) looking at the Home Building Fund, and throughout the day there will be the opportunity to take part in Ask the Expert sessionsmeaning that attendees can get expert one-to-one help on implementing the Self-build and Custom Housebuilding Regulations 2016.

NaCSBA Chair Michael Holmes said: “Now is the time for those implementing the Right to Build Local Authorities, landowners and developers to ensure they maximize the potential of the demand registers and develop the right planning strategies. The Expo provides the opportunity for people to hear how vanguard councils, experienced landowners and developers are capitalising on the Right to Build. Whats more, its a unique platform for people to network and share their experiences of the Right to Build so far.”
