Leaperland Hurst

Land promoter Leaper Land has resubmitted an outline planning application to Wokingham Borough Council for its 33 custom homes site in Hurst following an initial refusal.

The original scheme was refused, largely on the basis of unsustainable development in the countryside, with the proportion of affordable homes also being sited as part of the dismissal.

The resubmission addresses several issues with the original application, including with increased public space, the replacement of a block of flats with terraced and semi-detached homes and a greater mix of affordable homes.

The affordable contingent has been increased from the plan requirement of 40% to 50%, with a quarter of these homes available as discount open market custom and self build products. This is an interesting approach that opens up the possibility of an owner commissioned homes at a more affordable rate.

Leaper Land is calling for interested parties to both support the application with the council, and to register their interest with them for progress on the application.
